Our Mission

For God's glory, Hudson Valley URC exists to make and equip disciples of Jesus Christ in New Hampton and beyond.

Our Vision

Hudson Valley URC wants to prayerfully be a growing church family that develops biblical leaders for the Lord, nurtures loving relationships with one another, influences our unreached neighbors with Christ's love, and plants Gospel churches for God's greater glory.

Our Name

United Reformed means that we owe a debt of gratitude to the Protestant Reformation for what we believe and how we live.  We believe that God saves sinners based on His grace alone.  As believers, we confess Jesus Christ both as our Savior from sin and the Lord of our lives.

Our Community

In keeping with the teaching of the Bible, our Church is ruled by a plurality of Elders.  Our Church is part of a federation of Churches known as the United Reformed Churches in North America.

Our federation is a member of the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council,

as well as the International Conference of Reformed Churches.

Ultimately, our Church enjoys spiritual unity with all true believers through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Our Faith
IMG_0170.jpg

As Christians we believe that Scripture alone is the rule of faith.  But what does this actually mean?  We believe that Scripture's teaching is faithfully summarized by what are known as the Ecumenical Creeds which are: the Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasian Creed.  More specifically we also subscribe to the Three Forms of Unity which are: the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort.  We like to say that these are our "subordinate standards."  You can read them by clicking on the particular confession above.

Below is the first question and answer of the Heidelberg Catechism:

Q1. What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A. That I am not my own,
but belong—
body and soul,
in life and in death—
to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.
He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood,
and has delivered me from the tyranny of the devil.
He also watches over me in such a way
that not a hair can fall from my head
without the will of my Father in heaven;
in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.
Because I belong to him,
Christ, by his Holy Spirit,
also assures me of eternal life
and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready
from now on to live for him.
